Typical me

Today I worked at home as I usually do. No “big to-do” or fan fare, just another day of duties and general suburban life. Sound boring? I think so too, but I haven't felt so good about life being so damn boring in all of my life!

The basics

I tend to forget how awesome general life really is. Especially mine. Waking up, making the bed, getting dressed, going to work, taking out the trash, etc. So many moments to breathe and reflect and care for the basic fabric of life. I wasn't always like this and for the longest time I couldn't find a way to appreciate it. Couldn't seem to find the gratitude in the little things... 

After work

My wife made dinner and it was some sort of prepare-heat-and-bake thing from Costo. Not completely home cooked, but I was happy that she prepared it. And I mean genuinely happy. Not the bullshit kind either. The real deal kind. Now, my kids on the other hand, they hated it.

When do the kids like dinner? When it's dessert and not dinner. I agree that dinner should be nutritious, but I also agree that meat and potatoes all the time can get a bit dull. I don't mind the tears some nights, but tonight took one hour for the little one to complete dinner ;(

The repairs

My wife let me know that at some point during the day that the side gate broke. Hinge snapped from all the bending back and forth. So, I had to visit Home Depot and pick out some hinges and repair the gate. Again, I use to hate this kind of stuff in the past. It was 98º F and I was sweating way too much for a Monday night, no time to rest after dinner, but I was enjoying it!

I didn't do the best job in the world, but the gate works and it looks okay... not great, but okay... Some pics for proof:

Typical me! Nothing more to see here people. This is the average and everyday life in the Desmond house for me! And I loved every minute of it today!
